PhotoSweep is a Chrome extension by Pawsitive Games that looks for duplicate photos and videos while you use Google Photos in your browser. This page describes the data paths that matter to that job, in plain language.
We read Google Photos in your browser to find duplicates. We don’t sell that data. Matching is local. We don’t upload your library for analysis.
01 · Matching
What PhotoSweep reads
Matching uses ~200px provider CDN thumbs in the browser—not full originals. PhotoSweep uses those small thumbnails to look for likely matches while the Google Photos tab is open. Your library is not uploaded to our servers for analysis.
Video matching uses poster/thumbnail stills, not full-file decode. PhotoSweep does not need to decode an entire video file to make this comparison.
02 · Optional analytics
Analytics are a choice
Optional analytics are off until you choose Allow. If you enable them, analytics send no photo content. They are used for product measurement rather than photo matching.
03 · Licensing
Checkout is separate from the site
If you purchase a license, checkout is handled by Stripe Checkout, not Chrome IAP. This website does not collect payments or card data.
License identifiers may leave the device so a purchase can be validated; card numbers do not go to PhotoSweep or Pawsitive Games.
A precise promise
What we do not claim
We do not claim that PhotoSweep is “100% private,” and we do not claim that nothing ever leaves your device. Google Photos access, optional analytics, and license validation have the limited data paths described above.
